They say everything comes to he who waits. Well I’ve been waiting a REALLY long time to get this album finished, and here it is. Only one year late! I know that the Close To My Heart “My Crush” series of mini albums are now retired, but I just had to share this with you.
So, without further delay, here it is!!
The cover comes with the stylized Christmas tree. The rest is a blank slate. Here, and throughout the entire book, I made use of an old set of rub-ons and other embellishments from my stash. I also included the coordinating My Crush Holiday Happenings Badge Buttons and Assortment. I actually ended up doing no stamping at all, the Assortment made it so easy!
Notice how the pockets, cards and buttons work seamlessly to fill out your album. This is what Close To My Heart does best!
The little trees on the left page were left over from a project I did a few years ago.
The photo sleeves you see on the right are sprinkled throughout the book. It really helps to add visual interest! Notice in the top space that I did not actually use a photo. With these pockets, the sky’s the limit!
The page on the right turned out to be one of my faves! I have a little secret – don’t tell anyone 😉 I wanted to add some colour behind this vellum sheet. Even adding ever-so-tiny dots of adhesive showed through. Drat! I had to come up with some way of covering them up! I dug into my stash again, and came up with these two different Christmas ribbons and some bling. Perfect!
The page on the right is a great example of one of the things I love the most about the “My Crush” type books. Look in the bottom right corner. Notice the tag, flowers, washi tape and bow? I know it’s hard to believe, but everything but the bow is right on the page! Here is a close up, so you can see what I mean:
So, with just adding one embellishment, you get a beautiful focal point without too much bulk.
Again on the right, more pocket pages. Notice how adding the assortment cards throughout really adds to the overall design?
And then watch what happens on the next page:
See on the left? You can literally double the amount of photos/cards using both sides!
More pockets on the right …
and then the left!
I bet you would never guess that the row of trees along the bottom of the left page is actually from the sheet of rub-ons that I was telling you about. They worked perfectly! The page on the right is another vellum sheet, which worked really well with the calendar on the next page!
The little doo-dads in the calendar blocks: you guessed it – more rub-ons!
On the right page: can you guess which embellishments are added, and which are printed on the page?
The page on the left includes rub-ons and more left overs. The page on the right is actually the back cover. I needed a blank canvas to fit in everything from New Year’s Eve and Day.
And that’s it. The end of a great Christmas!
What did you think? Which was your favourite page? Have you ever used the “My Crush” style of mini album? Let me know in the comments!
Until next time,
