Welcome to our mARCH Blog Hop!

This blog hop is one big circle, so you can start wherever you want and continue through to see all the fabulous artwork. Just keep clicking the link in each post to go to the next page. The page just before me is Cat’s so if you are coming from there, you are on the right track! From here you’ll visit Kim’s page. In case you get lost, you can get a complete list of participants at the bottom of this post.

Each month, this group shares with you a different technique featuring Close To My Heart products. This month 15 of us are showcasing artwork that has been distressed in some way. There are 3 different techniques that can be used to distress your paper, to give it an aged, vintage or well-worn look:

  1. Use a distressing tool of some type (scissors, blade, distressing tool, etc.) along the edge(s) of the paper
  2. Sanding or filing, where the sanding block or file is used on the front of the paper.
  3. Inking, which is usually applied with some type of sponge. This is mostly done along the outside edge of the paper, but I have seen it done on the front of the paper as well.

This month I will be showing you three cards that I created, using a different distressing technique on each one. For inspiration, I went to our February/March Supplemental catalogue. There are so many terrific ideas jammed in each book. Often, I just need a starting point.

For the first card, I distressed the edges of each square with my distressing tool to give it a roughed up, well-worn look.

For the second card, I used a sanding block to rough up the front of the paper so the white core would show through.

In the third card, I added some dimension by inking the edges.

Thank you so much for stopping by! If you noticed something you want to see more of, you can see all of the products used on my CTMH shopping site: here. If you have any questions about the projects or techniques used here, or you’d just like to tell me what you thought of the projects, feel free to leave me a comment below or email here. I’d love to hear from you!

After that, keep following the links in each post and check out what we have to share with you. I hope you enjoy your time with us, see some cool projects and get some terrific tips and ideas!

Now…go see what amazing art Kim has to share with you and happy crafting!

Until next time
