Balloon Ride Layout

Have you ever had one of those moments?  The one where you think “OMG, this is going to turn out great!” And then right after that you think, “OMG, what was I thinking???!!”  That was my day recently, when a group of my friends got together for our monthly scrapbooking club.  I’d seen a layout that I just loved.  It was so simple, yet so effective.  I thought this would be a great change of pace for the ladies.  You’ve heard of Build a Bear?  Well this would be Build a Layout!  Instead of using all of the Background and Texture paper to make the layout, I used the soft colour palette from the Balloon Ride paper pack: Crystal Blue, Sorbet, Cashmere, Saddle, Cremé Brulee, Juniper, Colonial White.  Then I added just a touch of texture with photo mats and embellishments.  This is what I ended up with:

When the ladies arrived, I shared the news with them.  They were a little less than ecstatic, and I thought, “Oh boy.  Maybe this wasn’t such a great idea after all!”  But I persevered, helped the ladies find “their colours”, and away we went!  By the time we got to adding embellishments, I think everyone was on board and excited.  Then we all started looking at each others layouts and noticed something pretty amazing:  even though we all started with the same layout template, every layout looked entirely different!  Thanks to Lori, Chris, Kay, Allison, Colleen, Dianne, Cindy and Susan for allowing me to photograph and display their creations!  So, without further delay, here they are!!

Have a great day!

  1. Val, Thank you so much for inviting me to your scrapbooking club! I thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon. The layouts are beautiful. The cards were a lot of to make and it has inspired me to make my own cards.

  2. Every time I witness the end results from these ladies creative characteristics… I am always in wonderment of the level of talent 🙂
